About the Conflicts of Interest Oversight Committee
The Conflicts of Interest (CoI) Oversight Committee was established to provide advice on matters relating to conflicts of interest, make judgements regarding disclosures of interest and what constitutes a conflict, and provide advice regarding management of conflicts.
The committee is made up of external, independent experts in conflict management and guideline development.

Profile
Professor Hanan Khalil is a registered pharmacist and the Associate Dean of Academic Partnerships (Domestic) at the School of Psychology and Public Health. She has a diverse background in clinical practice, research, and education across hospitals, community settings, and academia. Her research specialises in knowledge synthesis and healthcare quality, particularly through methodologies like rapid reviews and evidence mapping. She leads influential research in medication safety, aged care, and chronic disease management, with her work shaping national and international health policies.
Her research has garnered over 30,000 citations and secured more than $3.5 million in external funding. Professor Khalil has published over 250 academic articles and is ranked among the top 2% of global researchers by Stanford University. She has served on key national bodies, including the TGA Labelling of Medicines Committee, contributing to regulatory reforms that improve medication safety. She is also Editor-in-Chief of Current Opinion in Epidemiology and Public Health.
Wendy Lipworth

Wendy Lipworth is Professor of Bioethics in the Discipline of Philosophy, Macquarie University, Sydney. Her research sits at the intersection of ethics and epistemology, with a focus on the ethics of health research innovation. She is particularly interested in devising ways to maintain and improve the rigour and integrity of research, policymaking and practice in the face of rapid scientific, commercial and socio-political change.
Joanne Khabsa
Profile
Ms. Joanne Khabsa is the coordinator of the American University of Beirut (AUB) GRADE center. She is a pharmacist and holds a Master of Public Health with a concentration in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from AUB. Her research interests include methods of guideline development and adaptation, conflict of interest, interest-holder engagement, and living approaches to guideline development and evidence synthesis. She is a member of the GRADE working group and of the Multi-Stakeholder Engagement (MuSE) in Guideline Development and Evidence Synthesis core teams. She is also an assistant convenor of the Cochrane Methods Equity group. She has served as a guideline methodologist in several national and international guideline development and adaptation efforts.
